United Methodist Women

UMW of First United Methodist Church - Denton offers many opportunities for mission and fellowship through its units, mission groups, and special interest groups. UMW has three mission groups that meet on the second Tuesday of every month (except June and July). Our program focus on ministries addressing the needs of women, children, and youth; advocacy for the oppressed and dispossessed; leadership development; spiritual development; and efforts to achieve inclusiveness. Members have the opportunity to participate in the UMW Reading Program, A Call to Prayer and Self-Denial observances, and retreat and worship resources. Participation in the Schools for Christian Mission is also available.

Many opportunities for fellowship are available through UMW. UMW has three mission groups:

Meets second Tuesday, 11:45 a.m. at FUMC

Quilting Target Group/Craft Target Group

Meets Thursdays from 9-11:30 a.m. at FUMC

Conveners: Donna Jambor and Linda Scott (quilters), Mary Layne (crafters)

Service Sisters United in Mission

Meets second Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Pecan Place Residence (across from FUMC) to focus on local mission needs.
