Special Needs (SAIL)
Supporting All Individuals with Love
Mission:
To provide an inclusion program for children and adults with special needs, both visible and invisible. The programs offered
through this misistry will enable all individuals to fully participate in the activities of First United Methodist Church
- Denton.
Services available through the SAIL Ministry:
SAIL Buddy
This is a program where the child or adult with special needs is partnered with a volunteer (their "Buddy") who assists
in Sunday School activities and interaction with their peers. Profile forms are completed by both the Buddy and participant.
The parents are required to "train" the volunteer for at least the first Sunday of service to help the volunteer get to
know and better assist the child.
Helping Hands
This is a program for people who need just a little extra assistance with getting in or out of the church buildings. These
individuals may need a steadying arm to hold onto while going up and down steps, or need someone to hold open a door, etc.
Volunteers provide this extra support so people can move safely around our church.
If you are interested in serving as a buddy or with the respite and helping hands or for more information about the SAIL
Ministry, please contact either Robin Lewis or Deana Ferguson.
