About the Library

The library at First United Methodist of Denton has books and resources for everyone from toddlers to senior citizens. You can find audio books, videos, charts, maps, pictures, posters, prints, games, transparencies, audio-visual kits, United Methodist magazines, and the United Methodist Reporter periodical. Books for the United Methodist Women’s Reading Program are also available in the library, as are current faith-based best sellers.

The Library’s Purpose

The mission of the library is to provide resources for Christian education. Deeper faith in God and its expression in discipleship can be encouraged through the use of inspirational materials and technology. The library collection endeavors to inform, inspire, and entertain.

Library Procedures

Books may be checked out for three weeks and renewed for three weeks. Simply sign your name on the card in the book pocket and stamp the due date on the card and on the due date slip in the book. Leave the card at the front counter of the library.

The church librarian will help you find materials in the collection and assist in making selections for specific uses such as Sunday School materials for adult classes. There is a wide variety of resource material for Sunday School classes, discussion groups, and personal study.

Come by the library to check out our new books and to take advantage of our church periodicals like Response magazine and New World Outlook magazine.

Donations of used books are gratefully received for use in the church library or for sale on our used book cart benefiting the library. Memorials, honors, and contributions are also welcome.

The FUMC library is affiliated with the Church and Synagogue Library Association and the North Texas Chapter of CSLA. The library relocated to newly remodeled facilities in 2006.
