In addition to directing Children’s Choirs and the Fine Arts Academy, Jett leads worship in the monthly “3rd Day” Family Service and “Rusty Bumpers”, the house band for Vacation Bible School. He can also be heard playing piano around the Denton area as accompanist for instrumental and vocal students and Denton Community Theatre.
Since childhood, Jett sensed a calling to ministry but never had an opportunity to pursue a formal education toward full-time ministry. He has a special interest in helping children grow in their faith; and since music is such a big part of his life, being involved with Children’s Choirs (first as accompanist and now as director) is a natural fit. On Wednesday evenings during the school year, Jett can be found in the children’s choir room working with our Cherub, Chorister, and Challenger Children’s Choirs (ages 4-years through 5th graders). The FUMC Fine Arts Academy offers a unique opportunity for Jett to mentor private piano students by teaching them to love music and play piano for God’s glory.
A product of West Texas – specifically Floydada and Lubbock – Jett and his wife, Nancy, relocated to Denton in 1987. They have two beautiful grown daughters and one grandson, of whom they are extremely proud.
