Don was born in Los Angeles, and raised in Whittier, CA. He received his BS in Theology from what is now Oklahoma Wesleyan University.. Don received his Master of Divinity while at SMU Perkins School of Theology. He’s been married to Susan for 32 years. Susan, an elementary education teacher, took early retirement and keeps her grandson, Orion, two days a week. Don and Susan have two grown children, Clari, a pharmacy tech at Flower Mound Pharmacy and Chris, who is currently attending the NCTC. Don has served pastoral appointments at FUMC Lewisville, Holy Covenant UMC in Carrollton, FUMC Richardson, and FUMC Pilot Point.
Don serves on the North Texas Conference Board of Ordained Ministry which is responsible for interviewing and recommending ministerial candidates for commissioning and ordination. He is also a member of the Episcopacy Committee for our Conference, which acts as a kind of SPRC (staff-parish relations committee) for the Bishop.
He currently serves on the City of Denton Downtown Task Force which recommends grants to revitalize buildings in downtown Denton. He also serves on the Denton Together Coalition, task force formed to strengthen community ties in Denton. He is also on the Board of Directors for RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program serving Denton County). RSVP’s mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagement through national service programs and volunteering in Denton County and surrounding communities.
Don has mentored at Tomas Rivera Elementary School for the last five years. He has a passion for scripture, history and a genuine love for Christ and His Church. Don enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Orion, playing guitar, reading, fixing things around the house and walking his dog, Taz.
