Lenten Rebuild Saturdays:
March 11, 18, 25, & April 1

Every year during the season of Lent, FUMC Denton strives to serve our community through an annual project called Lenten Rebuild. We find folks in our community in need of home repair through Hearts for Homes or through connections in our church family. You can help by picking up trash, cleaning, offer your construction expertise, or moving personal items and furniture! Whatever your skill level, you are invited to serve.

We partner with Hearts for Homes, a local ministry that provides home repairs for low-income seniors. You can sign up for morning or afternoon shifts on Saturdays during Lent for different jobs—to sign up, click the link below! All volunteers should complete a Hearts for Homes Volunteer Registration Form available at the link below. It only takes a few minutes! Thank you for shining God’s love into the lives of our neighbors!

This year, we are working on one home. You can help remove furniture and personal items to a temporary storage POD. Remove and replace the flooring and water damaged subflooring (in some spots) in several rooms of a mobile home. Plus, repair water damage to a wall near the bathroom. Return furniture and personal items to home or discard to dumpster, as the owner may purge some items at this time.

“For the last several years our church has been involved in a Lenten Rebuild project during the season of Lent. Traditionally during the season of Lent, Christians consider adopting spiritual disciplines, the focus of which is to turn our hearts toward God and our need for God’s grace. While often those disciplines involve giving up something, as in fasting, they can also involve taking something on such as a spiritual practice like prayer, Bible study, or even reaching out in concern and service. Love of neighbor creates a healthy balance to love of God."
