Ashton’s Story

Ashton heard messages that she wasn't good enough for God growing up. She was raised to believe being gay was a sin, and couldn't process her own identity until she had space from Christianity long enough to understand that she is gay. During a difficult season, she wanted to return to church, but found that most of the messages she was hearing were reflective of the negative ones from her childhood—kicking her while she was already down. Then, she found us—and knew that she had found her church home, surrounded by people who love her just as she is. She was able to reconnect with God and experience God's unconditional love for her and for all queer people. Ashton chose to give to this place because it's meaningful to be part of this place that has given so much to her.
